TROUBLESHOOTING
This page is for troubleshooting problems and frequently asked questions.
Before you look at the previously reported issues below, try this first to fix your problem: There are rare occasions where Fusion presets in Davinci will throw a wobbly and create a black screen (not just for my presets, this is for any), something that seems to fix this is to simply copy and paste the clip on top of itself. This won’t always work if the problem is deeper than this glitch, but it’s worth giving it a go first.
ISSUE #1
LAST FRAME OF GENERATOR SHOWS THIS MESSAGE: 'No frame available for MediaOut1'
If the last frame of a generator layer (like Zoom Camera Layer for example), shows this message in the bottom right hand corner of the viewer:
Then the likely cause of this is due to the frame rate in the project settings being different to the frame rate of the timeline settings.
To check this, open up the project settings by going down to the bottom right hand corner of the screen and clicking on the cog. Under ‘Master Settings’, you will see ‘Timeline Frame Rate’, check what yours is and make a note of it. Then, open up your Media Pool and find the Timeline that is experiencing the problem, right click on the timeline and navigate to: Timeline - Timeline Settings. Under the Format tab you will see your Timeline frame rate, if this is different to what your project settings frame rate is, then that can cause this issue, this is a DaVinci Resolve bug that is out of my control.
What you will need to do from here is create a new project with the project settings and timeline frame rates being the same, and then any new generators that you add in won’t have this issue (copy and pasting the one’s from the buggy timeline won’t necessarily fix them, but creating new ones should no longer have the problem).
The reason for this is because if for example your project settings frame rate is set to 30, and your timeline frame rate is set to 29.97 for example, then it confuses DaVinci and then the generator may show one frame less than it should.
ISSUE #2
IMAGE LOOKS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ON EXPORT THAN IT DOES ON TIMELINE
This is most likely caused by changing the resolution of your project whilst you’ve been working mid-project, or by exporting the video with a different resolution to your timeline.
It’s not a common problem, but it can happen, so just make sure that when you’re exporting your video, your timeline is set to the same resolution as the export.
If you’ve been regularly changing the resolution throughout the edit, then you may need to create a new timeline with the correct resolution and then copy and paste the video into the new timeline to export. Again, this is a DaVinci Resolve bug that is out of my control.
Another thing that you can try with this, is heading over to the Deliver Page, then in the Render Settings on the left hand side, scroll down to the bottom, open up 'Advanced Settings', and tick 'Use Render Cached Images'. This should produce the exact same image that you see in your timeline viewer, in the exported file.
ISSUE #3
TYPE-ON TITLE CAUSING BLACK FLASH FRAMES
This is a very strange DaVinci Resolve bug that is caused my using letters with accents on top, like 'é' for example, or some other special character letters. This will also only happen if you have the Blinking Cursor enabled.
If you disable the blinking cursor or remove the letters with accents on top or some special characters, it's completely fine.
I have contacted Blackmagic about this bug and I am currently waiting for there response, I'm hoping it's something that they will fix in a future update because it's very a much a bug caused by their Fusion page.
ISSUE #4
CONTROLS NOT SHOWING IN THE INSPECTOR
If the preset controls aren't showing in the inspector, like this:
Then the first thing to try is to simply single click, or double click on the preset name in the inspector.
If this doesn't work, then this is a DaVinci Resolve bug where it sometimes decides to not show preset controls, again this is not just for mine, this can happen to any presets and can be annoying.
Thankfully this happens very rarely, and can normally be fixed by either opening the preset inside of Fusion by clicking on the wand symbol (on the left of the bin symbol in the above image), then inside of Fusion you should be able to click on the preset node, and then open the controls in the inspector in there, and then hopefully when you come back to the edit page it will now be showing.
If not, then the next thing to try is to delete the preset from your timeline and then add it again.
Another reported fix to this is to come up to dropdown menu called 'Workspace' at the top of the page, and then click 'Reset UI Layout'.
If this still isn't working, then other fixes that have worked for people in the past are to restart DaVinci Resolve, or even restart the computer.
It's not known why this happens, and it's difficult to recreate as it seems to be completely random, but thankfully like I said before, this doesn't happen often, it just seems to be one of those small DaVinci bugs.
